When a celebrity makes the news, it’s not always for a good reason. Recently, Amy Slaton, known from 1000-lb Sisters, was in the headlines for a troubling reason.
Amy Slaton was arrested in September, along with a man whose identity is unknown. This happened after police noticed a strange smell coming from her car.
At the time, Amy was at the Tennessee Safari Park Zoo on September 2. She told police that she had been bitten by a camel while at the park.
However, Claude Conley, the owner of the zoo, later told the press that her injuries didn’t match what you’d expect from a camel bite. There was something else that would cause even more trouble.
The sheriff’s department said that when officers arrived at the scene, they noticed a strong and unusual smell coming from Amy’s vehicle. An adult man and two children were inside the car at the time.
Police checked the vehicle and then arrested Slaton and the unnamed man. They were taken to Crockett County Jail, and after paying a $10,000 bond, they left the jail hand in hand.
Tammy Slaton, Amy’s sister, picked up the children and seemed to have custody of them at the time.
Reports say Amy was arrested for having marijuana and illegal mushrooms. Both of these were not hidden in the car and were visible.
Amy has not commented on the incident yet, but she has been back on social media, posting pictures of her children on Halloween. Since then, she has pled guilty to several charges.
Slaton was found with Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs and faced two counts of child endangerment. However, as part of a plea deal, she is only being charged with possession, and the charges of child endangerment and abuse have been dropped.
