Elon Musk is receiving heavy criticism from actor and comedian Marlon Wayans after the billionaire made the remark that his child was “dead” to him because of her transition.
Wayans, famous for his roles in movies and comedy, strongly criticized Musk for his remarks about his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson.
Vivian came out as transgender in 2022 and decided to distance herself from her father.
Wayans, who has a transgender son, felt personally affected by the issue. It was evident that the way he and Musk dealt with their relationships with their trans children was completely different.
While speaking on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Wayans openly slamed Musk for the way he spoke publicly about his daughter’s transition.
He said, “I don’t like what he be saying about his trans child, that made me mad. You don’t treat them babies like that. You don’t disown your baby. Love your child!”
He went on to stress how crucial it is to practice acceptance.
“As hard as it was, I think that it’s not important. It’s important what you went through; the five steps of grief, but I think it’s important that you get to acceptance. And I’m proud to say it took me a week. And it felt like forever, it felt like five years.”
Wayans thought about how difficult it can be for some parents to accept their child’s transition.
“I’m proud that I got there in a week,” he said.
“I’m sad to say, some parents and some family members and some people, it will take them a lifetime, and they’ll never get to that magical place that I’m at, which is just acceptance. It’s still my child, man. That’s my baby.”
Earlier this year, Musk discussed his strained relationship with his daughter during a talk with conspiracy theorist Jordan Peterson.
Musk alleged that he was “essentially tricked into signing documents” that permitted Vivian to move forward with her transition.
During the discussion, Musk continually used incorrect pronouns and referred to Vivian by her original name.
He remarked, “I lost my son. They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason. The reason it’s called ‘deadnaming’ is because your son is dead. So my son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
Wayans, clearly upset by Musk’s remarks, stated that he owns a Tesla but is now “about to drive it over a cliff” to protest the CEO’s actions.
Vivian, who was born in 2004 alongside her twin brother Griffin, is the daughter of Elon Musk and Canadian writer Justine Musk. The two were married from 2000 until 2008.
