Meghan Markle’s Reluctance To Visit UK Stirs Up Christmas Tension With Prince Harry

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received an invitation to celebrate Christmas with Charles Spencer at Althorp, but Meghan’s reluctance to travel back to the UK might complicate things.

Sources say that Prince Harry, 40, is excited about the idea of celebrating the holidays in Britain with their family, but the Duchess, 43, remains concerned about security issues.

A close source has shared that this situation could be a significant turning point for the couple after six years of marriage. “Harry is keen for the Sussexes to spend time in the UK this Christmas with family,” the insider disclosed.

“However, there are still concerns lingering over their security.”

The source went on to point out Meghan’s ongoing discomfort about going back to the UK, particularly given the current situation.

If Meghan Markle does decide to attend, which seems quite unlikely at the moment, it would be her first visit to the UK since the late Queen’s funeral in 2022. Reports suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan have not received an invitation to join the Royals for their traditional Christmas gathering at Sandringham, and it’s likely they wouldn’t attend even if they did get one, according to the Express.

The Sussexes skipped the Royal Family’s Christmas event at Sandringham last year and were also absent from the “summer summit” at Balmoral last month.

During his trip to the UK in August, Prince Harry visited Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Spencer family and the final resting place of his late mother. He stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, at his estate after attending the memorial service for Lord Robert Fellowes, Diana’s brother-in-law.

This news arrives as Harry has chosen to extend his current solo trip without Meghan Markle. A reliable source revealed that the Duke of Sussex was initially scheduled to return to California this weekend to reunite with Meghan and their two children, but he has opted to extend his trip by a few more days.

The source also indicated that Harry is likely to spend some “private time” with family and friends in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Additionally, there is another undisclosed visit that has not been mentioned in his official schedule.

“It’s all very cloak and dagger but Harry has extended his trip abroad by another few days,” the source revealed. “He’ll likely go to Johannesburg and then to visit family and friends. The Spencers have a home there [in Cape Town] and he has a lot of friends from that part of the world. There’s also another trip planned which has been blanked out of his diary and he’s keen to keep it very private.”
