Jamie Foxx has had another health emergency after his recent close call with death.
Reports say the actor got into an argument at a restaurant in Los Angeles while celebrating his birthday on Friday night (Saturday in Australia).
A representative for Foxx told Page Six, “Jamie Foxx was having his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass, hitting him in the mouth.”
“He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
According to a Beverly Hills Police Department press release obtained by the outlet, the police were called to the LA restaurant Mr. Chow at 10:06 p.m. for a reported assault with a deadly weapon.
After looking into the incident, police found that the assault report was “unfounded,” but they did confirm that the incident “involved a physical altercation between parties.”
The incident is still being investigated, with officers submitting a report documenting battery and confirming that no arrests were made.
Earlier this week, Foxx spoke to the media about being able to celebrate his birthday after his near-death experience in 2023, which led to a weeks-long coma and a difficult recovery.
“It’s beautiful because I didn’t know if I would be here to celebrate it,” he told photographers in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter.
The actor was first hospitalized in April 2023 after experiencing a health crisis, which was kept private, while filming the Netflix spy thriller Back In Action with Cameron Diaz in Atlanta.
In his new Netflix special released on Tuesday, titled Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, he shared that a doctor told them right after he was admitted that Foxx had a brain bleed that caused a stroke and he would die without surgery.
After the surgery, doctors said Foxx might make a full recovery “but it’s going to be the worst year of his life,” Foxx recalled.
The actor and his family kept quiet about the situation during his recovery, but he is active now.
