Arnold Schwarzenegger spent part of his Thanksgiving dealing with the police after his home was targeted in a swatting incident.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a report of a bomb in Schwarzenegger’s mailbox. They searched the area but found no bomb. Police spoke with Schwarzenegger’s security team, who explained that the house is well-protected with 24-hour security and cameras, making it difficult for anyone to place a bomb there.
Schwarzenegger was not home at the time; he was at the gym before joining his family for the holiday. No one has been arrested over the bomb threat, but Schwarzenegger’s team said they are “grateful” the police are looking into the matter.
There has been an increase in bomb threats targeting high-profile people. Earlier this week, President-elect Donald Trump mentioned that several members of his cabinet had received threats, including Congressman Matt Gaetz, whose home had to be investigated by a bomb squad.
Even members of the Democratic party have been swatted. One of the most shocking incidents happened earlier this year when someone called 911 about a fire in the White House with someone trapped inside. Firefighters and emergency workers arrived early in the morning, only to discover the call was a hoax.
