Demi Moore Shares An Update On Bruce Willis’ Health As He Continues To Battle Dementia

Demi Moore has talked about how her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, is doing as he continues his battle with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

“Given the givens, he’s in a very stable place at the moment,” Moore, 62, told CNN host Christiane Amanpour in an interview that aired Thursday, December 5. “And I’ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely: It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at.”

“And from that place, there is such loving and joy,” the Ghost star said, later adding in the interview that Willis’ condition is still “very difficult.”

Moore explained that even though her 13-year marriage to Willis ended in 2000, they have stayed close over the years. The couple, who have three daughters — Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30 — will always be a family. “We’ll always be a family, just in a different form,” the Substance actress said.

“And that form may kind of evolve and change, and there is a way in which we can all be in that form,” Moore added, explaining she’s “grateful” because it’s not just her who’s working to keep the family close. “It has to require everybody to be coming together — and it’s lovely.”

Willis has been married to Heming Willis, 46, since March 2009, and they have two daughters, Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10.

The 69-year-old Die Hard actor retired from acting in the spring of 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects a person’s ability to communicate and can make it hard to understand written and spoken language. The following year, Willis was also diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a brain disorder that causes parts of the brain to shrink and lose function.

Moore, 66, told Amanpour that the situation her family is facing is “not what I would wish upon anyone” and has caused “great loss.”

Still, she added, “there is also great beauty and gifts that can come out of it.”
