Elon Musk has faced criticism and been labeled ‘disgusting’ for sharing a private image of Amber Heard.
As a co-founder of Tesla and one of the wealthiest individuals globally, Musk is famous for expressing his opinions online, making him a polarizing figure—some people admire him, while others dislike him.
Musk, who owns X, was in a relationship with Amber Heard, known for being Johnny Depp’s ex-wife and for her performances in films such as Aquaman and The Rum Diary. They began dating in 2017 but ended their romance the following year.
However, when Musk chose to upload a personal photo of Heard on his social media platform, which was previously called Twitter, he encountered backlash from both detractors and supporters.
One critic pointed out Musk’s behavior, saying: “The things we deem OK or not OK is amusing.”
“Most of us flex on the timeline in some shape or form, this one just happens to be… well, kind of extraordinary tbh.”
Another person made a joke, saying: “This is why you can’t keep a girl, Elon.”
One comment stated: “Sorta goes without saying but Elon Musk tweeting out a photo of Amber Heard in cosplay for his weird fanboys to drool over is f***ing disgusting.”
A fourth commenter expressed hope, saying: “Hopefully this was approved by her… we don’t need another controversy.”
According to Walter Isaacson’s biography, Elon Musk, the two initially connected over their professional work.
Heard surprised Musk at the Tesla factory in California to celebrate his birthday, and he visited her while she was filming Aquaman in Australia.
Shortly after they split, Musk spoke positively about Heard.
On Instagram, he posted: “Although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another. Long distance relationships when both partners have intense work obligations are always difficult, but who knows what the future holds.”
However, his biography presents a different view of their relationship.
Isaacson describes their connection as ‘agonizing.’
MailOnline emphasizes that the biographer claims Heard ‘drew [Musk] into a dark vortex that lasted more than a year and produced deep-seated pain that lingers to this day. It was brutal.’

The controversial image, which has now been deleted, was taken while they were still a couple and features Heard in cosplay—a hobby that involves dressing up as characters from movies, books, or video games.
In the disputed photo, the Zombieland star is seen in a white costume, complete with a halo, wings, and suspenders, gazing down at the camera.
Page Six reports that Musk did not obtain Heard’s permission to share the photo.
A source close to the actress allegedly informed the publication that the photo was meant to stay ‘private.’
