Character actor John Capodice, who appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows, passed away on December 30 at 83.
According to his obituary from Pizzi Funeral Home in New Jersey, he is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughters, Tessa De Pierro and Cassandra Hansen; and four grandchildren. The cause of death was not mentioned.

Capodice was born in Chicago in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and fought in the Korean War.
He started his acting career in the 1970s. He is best known for playing Carmine Cerullo on General Hospital and has also appeared in Seinfeld and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
According to his IMDb page, Capodice got his first on-screen role in 1978. He appeared in the movie Rush It and acted in six episodes of Ryan’s Hope as Lloyd Lord. After that, he became a well-known face on TV, with guest roles on popular shows like Boy Meets World, Ellen, Will & Grace, Law & Order, Knots Landing, Another World, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, The West Wing, Monk, and Murder, She Wrote.
Capodice also worked in movies. Along with playing a police officer who teased Jim Carrey’s character in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, he had small parts in Independence Day, Enemy of the State, and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
His obituary describes him as a “devoted husband, father and grandfather” who “will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.”
A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, January 12, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church in Sparkill, New York, according to the funeral home.
