It seems that, like almost everyone, Liam Neeson has a soft spot for Pamela Anderson.
In an interview with People, the Taken actor expressed his admiration for the Baywatch actress, calling her “terrific.”
Since then, Anderson has responded to his comments…
The two stars are joining forces for the upcoming Naked Gun reboot.
In the reboot, Neeson steps into the role of Frank Drebin Jr., likely playing the son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic character, Frank Drebin.
Anderson, meanwhile, takes on the part of a “femme fatale,” a role that seems perfect for the actress, known for her mix of glamour and wit. Despite his acting experience, Neeson admitted to feeling a bit unsure about his comedic skills, humbly saying, “Whether I can carry it or not, I honestly don’t know.”
Naked Gun producer Seth MacFarlane, who starred alongside Neeson in A Million Ways to Die in the West, played a key role in persuading him to take on the role in the reboot.
“He approached me about it: ‘They are going to reboot it, would you be interested?’ I thought, ‘Yeah, I would actually,'” Neeson shared.
Known primarily for his action roles, Neeson’s comedic turn in Naked Gun marks an exciting shift as he announces he’ll be retiring from action films in 2025.
Fans can still catch Neeson in one more action-packed role in his upcoming film Absolution, set for release on November 1.
In the movie, he plays a former boxer coping with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) who seeks redemption by reconnecting with his estranged daughter.
As he struggles with his diagnosis, Neeson’s character also faces off against some “bad guys,” delivering that classic Neeson blend of grit and action before he shifts away from the genre.
With Naked Gun, Neeson embarks on a new phase of his career, celebrating the chance to collaborate with Anderson. Though pairing the Barb Wire icon with the actor best known for portraying Oskar Schindler might seem surprising, they shared plenty of laughs on set.
“With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with,” Neeson told People.
“I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”
It seems Neeson isn’t just giving empty praise when it comes to supporting his female co-stars.
He has been an outspoken advocate for fairness in the entertainment industry, particularly on issues like the gender pay gap.
In a 2018 interview with the Associated Press, he called Hollywood’s wage disparity “f***ing disgraceful.”
“We started it,” he said, “so we have to be part of the solution.”
However, when asked if he’d consider taking a pay cut to ensure a female co-star received equal pay, Neeson replied, “Pay cut? No, no, no, no, no. That’s going too far.”
Anderson had just as many good things to say about her time on the Naked Gun set, telling People that Neeson has impressive comedic skills.
“It was hard to keep a straight face in scenes together,” said Anderson, author of Love, Pamela, adding that she found him to be “humble.” She went on to call Neeson “the perfect gentleman” who “sincerely looked after me—wrapped his coat around me when I was cold.”
Anderson described the experience as an “absolute honor,” praising Neeson for bringing “respect, kindness, and depth of experience” to his work.
To show her appreciation, she made homemade bread and cookies for Neeson, leaving them in his dressing room as tokens of gratitude.
